About
We started with a spreadsheet that tracked other documents.
An HR lead we know had built it herself — 60 rows, one per policy, with a column called "where is it actually". Drive link, mail attachment, a PDF someone had printed and rescanned. She maintained it manually every Friday.
That spreadsheet was not a failure. It was a good person solving a real problem with the only tool available. But it told us something: HR documentation stops being a filing task and becomes a tracking task, usually around the time a company crosses a hundred people. Nobody announces the transition. You just notice you are spending Fridays on it.
So we built Quiltdesk — an internal knowledge base for HR. Policies, handbooks, SOPs and internal instructions in one place. Each document has an owner and a review date. Versions stay in order. Search finds things by what they say, not what the file is named.
We are a small team in Pune. We are not going to tell you that documentation is exciting. We are going to try and make it take less of your week.
Following along is enough for now. We will be sharing what we learn as we build.
